The New Yorker is out with a profile of Yellen. It doesn’t offer much about her current views but it gives a sense of her leanings.

  • Her husband George Akerlof is also an economist and in 2003 said the Bush Administration was, “the worst government the U.S. has ever had.”
  • Author Lemann writies that Yellen is an “unrepentant Keynesian.”
  • On the easy-money before the crisis, she’s humble: ‘I absolutely did not see it as something that could bring the financial system down.’

The one line that says something about where rates could be headed is this:

“And so even when the headwinds have diminished to the point where the economy is finally back on track and it’s where we want it to be, it’s still going to require an unusually accommodative monetary policy,” Yellen said.
