BOJ's Sakurai: It will take some time to hit 2% price goal

Author: Justin Low | Category: Central Banks

Further comments on the day by BOJ board member Makoto Sakurai

  • No need to strengthen easing policies for now as economy is still steady
  • Uncertainty is emerging in relationship between monetary policy and prices
  • Difficult to judge distortions caused by easing policies
  • Very tough to predict timing of hitting price goal
Nothing new here really from Sakurai. Markets are generally more focused on the larger themes at play at the moment which is that of risk aversion as a result of the global equities rout.
