NHC sees storm strengthening
Tropical depression Cristobal has now strengthened into tropical storm Cristobal.
The storm is headed straight north from the Yucatan peninsula into the gulf of Mexico, headed for the coast somewhere between Louisiana and Florida on the weekend.
The storm is causing drilling rig shutdowns in the gulf. There's a chance of storm surge damage along the coast but the chance of a damaging hurricane is modest.
