European Union to accept France running a budget deficit higher than the EU's 3% ceiling in 2019

  • "as a one-time exception. However, it must not continue beyond 2019" says EU Budget Commissioner Guether Oettinger
Background to this is France announced last week that its headline deficit could grow to 3.2% in 2019 (from 2.8 percent initially forecast). Macron is under domestic pressure from the yellow shirt protests to back off spending restricting impact of fiscal reforms.

Those yellow shirts ... They already got a bunch a flowers, a stuffed toy and the girls! Still want MOAR!
