Latest data released by Eurostat - 29 April 2019

  • Economic confidence 104.0 vs 105.0 expected
  • Business climate indicator 0.42 vs 0.49 expected
  • Industrial confidence -4.1 vs -2.0 expected
  • Services confidence 11.5 vs 11.5 expected

Prior month's release can be found here. Confidence readings continue to dwindle for the most part with economic confidence notably falling from a revised 105.6 reading in March to just 104.0 in April. That represents the lowest reading since September 2016.

While not a release that matters all too much for the euro upon immediate impact, it's one that will weigh on sentiment in the bigger picture and feed into the narrative of waning optimism towards the euro area economy.
