Not much to get excited about

The calendar is light on economic data but heavy on Fedspeak in New York trade. The speakers include Brainard (1200 GMT), Quarles (1330 GMT) and Mester (2245 GMT) but the first two are speaking about regulation. Brainard is a swing vote and an important signal so we'll pay close attention in case there is anything. It's a moderated Q&A so there could be questions about monetary policy.

In terms of data, weekly jobless claims are due up along with the Philly Fed. I wouldn't expect either to be market movers.

The most-interesting event remaining on today's economic calendar is a speech from the BOE's Cunliffe at 1630 GMT. He's on a trip to Washington and speaking at the same forum as Mester. There will be a speech and then moderated Q&A.

Any hints about what the BOE will do in May will surely be felt in GBP.
