The 7-day incidence rate falls further to 107.8

Germany

The spread of infections in Germany is seen to be declining and that is a positive signal over the past two weeks, which should eventually see daily cases and deaths come lower. The drop in the 7-day incidence rate to 107.8 is the lowest in over a month.

That has now allowed for some German states to loosen restrictions with Berlin agreeing to lift nighttime curfew and ease restrictions on shopping starting from 19 May, and allowing outdoor dining from 21 May (if the 7-day incidence rate in the German capital keeps below 100 for three consecutive days that is).

Medical capacity remains rather stretched with there being 4,461 (-138) virus patients requiring intensive care as of yesterday but there were only 2,813 (12%) intensive care beds still available across the country.
