Judge Sullivan implied Flynn might be sent to jail for lying to the FBI

Michael Flynn was expected to be sentenced today for lying to the FBI. Flynn was Pres Trump's National Security Advisor at the start of his administration but later resigned.

The hope coming into today, was that cooperation by Flynn in the Mueller investigation and that the FBI did not warn him of the legal consequences of lying, would lead to no prison time.

The judge today threw cold water on that idea by asking Flynn if he was aware that lying to the FBI was a crime. Flynn responded that he was aware.

Judge Sullivan responded, "I want to be frank with you, this crime is very serious. Not only did you lie to the FBI, you lied to senior officials in the incoming administration. All along, you were an unregistered agent of a foreign country while serving as the national security adviser to the President of the United States," Sullivan added. "That undermines everything this flag over here stands for. Arguably you sold your country out."

The judge offered a delay in sentencing given the shift in guilty admission and it's implications, and Flynn and his lawyers requested the delay.
