Migrants threatening Germany's government
Germany's interior minister threatened to resign on the weekend as the three-and-a-half month old coalition heads for a potential split.
Horst Seehofer and his Bavaria-only Christian Social Union is struggling ahead of a state election in October and wants to be tougher on migrants. Merkel is trying to appease Italy and others by taking in refugees that landed elsewhere.
Merkel needs the SCU in her coalition to maintain a majority.
