Trade Me is New Zealand's largest internet auction website, it says job ads in 2019 were down 10.6% from 2018

  • 24 of the 26 job sectors on Trade Me had a fall in vacancies
  • government and council, and executive and general management the only sectors with higher
Trade Me spopkesman:
  • "Businesses weighing up whether to replace someone or hire someone new have to think about how confident they are about their ability to earn more money in the year ahead"
  • if the Government was to make some decisions on big infrastructure projects in the next couple of months, things could pick up 
The RBNZ will be eyeing this.
