Ultimatum time
There was some interesting speculation from the BBC today in its Brexit podcast. Host Laura Kuenssberg, said: "There's a lot of suspicions, a cabinet source was saying to me yesterday, 'I think maybe next Tuesday Theresa May will try and bounce everyone into a deal.'"
The thinking is that on Tuesday May might pull the trigger and tell cabinet "this is as good as it gets. What you gonna do?"
That will be a high stakes moment where she tells them to either support the deal or quit cabinet.
I have no doubt that a big chunk of cabinet is angling for May's job, but do they think grandstanding on a Brexit deal will get them there? My guess is that it won't but the reptiles in politics see things 5-6 steps ahead and they might decide this is their best chance in the Game of Thrones that's UK politics.
