Comments by UK government spokesman, James Slack

  • Says May is to make a Brexit statement to parliament tomorrow
  • Government committed to bring vote on Brexit deal as soon as possible
  • Rules out Corbyn proposal on Brexit customs union with the EU
  • Says that UK economy continues to grow and remains fundamentally strong

Slack also mentions that the government has committed that if the meaningful vote has not been passed by 27 February, there will be a further amendable motion by that date. And the binary outcome between a no-deal Brexit and a delayed Brexit becomes even more clear-cut now.

However, that means another week of waiting in the dark for pound traders. Doh!
