Reuters reports on the matter

Not much details on this one but the report says that the UK has sent in some written proposals to the European Union to try and break the Brexit impasse and change the current agreement, citing diplomatic sources dealing with such affairs in Brussels.

I wouldn't view it as good news just yet as we don't know how the proposals stand up but if anything else, I reckon they will fall short of meeting the needs from European leaders - particularly that of Ireland.

Update: Buzzfeed is now reporting a similar story, saying that the text sets out some of the UK's initial thoughts on how to get around the backstop issue. No further details were given as sources close to the matter see the need to keep expectations in-check.
