- on North Korea, made further progress when North Korean official visited last week
- believe by end of February will have another good marker along the way with North Korea
- private sector will be important player in reaching agreements with North Korea
- on Russia we are not doomed to Cold War rivalry
- need to talk with Russia to prevent nuclear proliferation
- need be antagonists but it will take change in Russian outlook and behavior
- on US shutdown, we all hope it will end fairly quickly, hope resolve in short order
