A stay of execution?
Sarah Sanders has issued a statement basically saying that the President and Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein will meet on Thursday.
It was thought Rosenstein would resign. That was changed to he won't resign but would need to be fired by Trump. Now there is a stay of execution (or so it seems). It may also be a few days to access the potential ramifications from firing the Deputy Attorney General. It may not be as simple as "You're Fired" from Trump.
