The major indices are closing the day with modest losses. The declines did break a 5 day up streak. The good news is the major indices are ending the day well off the lows.

- The S&P index fell -0.38 points or -0.01% at 2596.26. The low reached down to 2577 before recovering
- The Nasdaq fell -14.591 points or -0.21% at 6971.47. The low reached 6933.605.
- The Dow fell -5.97 points or -0.02% at 23995.95. The low reached 23798.16
European shares for the day ended mostly lower, with Spain's Ibex bucking the trend.
For the week, the Nasdaq index rose 3.45% - leading the US market. Canada's S&P/TSX rose 3.59%. In Europe, Italy's FTSE MIB led with a gain of 2.43%. Japan's Nikkei rose 4.08% this week.
