Comments by BOE governor, Mark Carney, in the central bank's annual report
- Likely to have to raise interest rates further in order to keep inflation at target
- Any rises in interest rates are expected to happen at a gradual pace
- And will happen to a limited extent
The pound just got a bump higher on the headlines here but I'm not seeing anything to get too excited about. This has been their official stance for quite a while now i.e. limited and gradual rate hikes but the fact is that they can't do anything until Brexit is sorted out.
Cable moved to a high of 1.2718 but is fading back those gains as I type this, falling to 1.2700 again now and rightfully so.
