Some improving numbers for Japan from HSBC/Markit. More details from the report:
Key points:
- Business activity returns to modest growth
- Service sector employment levels rise further
- Input prices in services increase at fastest pace since September 2008
Amy Brownbill, Economist at Markit:
- “Japanese services companies registered a marked rise in new business in September, with the pace of growth accelerating to a 16-month high.
- This led to a return to growth of activity, following a decline in the previous month.
- Consequently, staffing levels rose further.
- With activity returning to positive growth for only the second time since the sales tax increase was implemented in April, a hoped for return to growth in Q3 seems to be firmly on the cards.”
