Talk of a December election in Japan continues to swirl – this from the Nikkei:

  • Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has told leaders of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party to get ready for a snap election in December, setting the stage for dissolving the lower house as early as next week.
  • He told LDP officials that if an election is called, campaigning will most likely kick off on Dec. 2 for voting on Dec. 14. Another possibility is a Dec. 9 campaign start with voting on Dec. 21, but Abe believes an earlier election will help limit the impact on the compilation of the fiscal 2015 budget.

Looks like another day of headline-driven yen trading in Asia coming up. Stay nimble if short-term trading.
