• Stamp duty changes may slow the top end of the market

Carney is speaking in an Evening Standard piece which all you Londoners can read on the train home tonight.

When the stamp duty rules changed at midnight on the day of George Osborne’s Autumn speech it was reported that lawyers were getting huge bungs to push through deals so that they got in before the rule change, thus saving hundreds of thousands of pounds. The Standard reported that some we’re getting £10k extra per deal.
