Bank of Finland President

The new head of the Bank of Finland Olli Rehn is speaking and said:

  • short-term indicators suggest pace of growth is cool
  • economic outlook is strong but faces downside risks due to uncertainty relating to public finances and banks of some member countries
  • currently risks to the medium-term outlook seem to be tilted to the downside
  • internal risks relate to uncertainty surrounding the implementation of reforms in the euro area, and to the public finances and banking sectors in some member states

Rehn will join the governing Council of the European Central Bank in July
