Governor of the Bank of Japan Kuroda was at a workshop with the Bank of Canada in Tokyo today

Kuroda quoted Anne, a fictional character in the Canadian novel Anne of Green Gables

  • "Anne says to her stepfather, old Matthew, 'Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about?... It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything"
  • "Anne's words sound very encouraging to all economists and central bankers who are making numerous efforts to find out new ideas, solutions, and policy tools:'

WSJ (via Market Talk) reporting (h/t @alexfrangos)

Kuroda is a bit of a literary chap ... this from not too long ago:

  • "I trust that many of you are familiar with the story of Peter Pan, in which it says, 'The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it.Yes, what we need is a positive attitude and conviction."
