Abe says that Japan will resolve abduction issue by directly facing up to North Korea

Comments by Japan prime minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo

He says that Japan must take a proactive approach on the issue.

Abe met up with Trump last week and this was his major concern ahead of the US-North Korea summit in Singapore on Tuesday. Although Trump did acknowledge Abe's request in his press conference after meeting with Kim, it's still unclear if the two ever did got to talk about it.
