Barnier: EU would want to know why UK wants to extend Brexit talks

Further comments by Barnier as he addresses parliament

• It will be up to UK government to tell us how they want to proceed
• Says that EU is ready for a no-deal Brexit if necessary
• Reiterates that EU27 has went as far as possible to sway UK parliament

He also says that the existing Brexit deal talks are "done and dusted". Certainly not helpful remarks there by Barnier but where possible, there's no doubt that they would want to avoid a no-deal outcome as well.

There's talk doing the rounds that the EU may possibly grant a technical extension for a few weeks so that the UK can sort out its intentions, but let's see how things progress over the next few days/weeks.
