Further comments by China's vice finance minister Zhu Guangyao

  • China and US have wisdom, capability to solve disputes
  • Mutual respect is most important in China-US talks
  • China and US are responsible for keeping stable financial markets

Well, as for keeping markets stable I don't think they're doing a very good job with the tit-for-tat approach. Either way, WTO resolution is out the door a long time ago, so I'm not sure what he's getting at.

There is pretty much a zero possibility that Trump will be willing to make a U-turn to go back to that, so the only way - as mentioned for the past few weeks - that this gets resolved is somehow the two can negotiate some form of agreement, implicit or not that depends on them.

Otherwise, let the tit-for-tat approach continue in the meantime.
