US dollar down after soft CPI and retail sales
The US dollar has proven to be a very tough customer.
The latest legs of US dollar strength have shrugged off political turmoil and weeks of mediocre economic data.
Just last Friday, the wages components of non-farm payrolls were soft and that led to a similar drop in the US dollar. It was erased by the end of the day and the dollar rallied from Monday to Wednesday.
On thing to watch is the Fed.
Evans is appearing in Dublin and will be on Bloomberg TV. He has a reputation as a major dove but he's shifted towards the middle lately. If he starts to express some worries, that could be an early sign of a broader shift.
Later, the Fed's Harker also speaks.
