BERLIN (MNI) – European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet
Monday called on banks to assure that they are sufficiently capitalised.
In a question-and-answer session following his speech at the
Humboldt university here, Trichet stressed that “we’re asking all banks
to have the appropriate level of capital and be extremely cautious in
their risk taking.”
Trichet’s appearance here was repeatedly interrupted by protesting
students who called him a liar and raised banners protesting the
austerity measures in Greece.
