It is a busy economic data calendar in Asia today, Japan and China the focus. Its Bank of Japan day too!

There is no scheduled time for the Bank of Japan announcement - but expect it in the 0230 to 0330 GMT time window

Previews of the BOJ:

==

2145 GMT - New Zealand - Building consents (permits) for September

  • prior +10.2% m/m for August, driven by permits for apartments, townhouses etc (August was the biggest month in 13 years for these - mind you, July was very, very low). As you might guess, this is a volatile data series

2230 GMT - Australia - ANZ Roy Morgan weekly consumer sentiment

  • prior 113.3

2330 GMT - Japan

  • Overall Household Spending y/y for September, expected is 0.6%, prior was 0.6%
  • Jobless Rate for September, expected is 2.8%, prior was 2.8%
  • Job-To-Applicant Ratio for September, expected is 1.53, prior was 1.52

Yesterday's retail sales figures were not too bad - so maybe we get an improvement for household spending, which has been a laggard in Japan's recovery 9slow wage growth cited)

2350 GMT - Japan - Industrial production for September preliminary

  • Industrial Production m/m expected is -1.6%, prior was -2.0%
  • Industrial Production y/y expected is 2.0%, prior was 5.3%
  • I'll be back with more on this separately as a preview

0000 GMT - New Zealand ANZ business confidence and activity outlook for October

  • Priors 0.0 and 29.6 respectively

0000 GMT - Australia - HIA New Home Sales for September

  • August was +9.1% m/m

0001 GMT - UK data for GfK consumer confidence (October)

0100 GMT - China - Official manufacturing and non-manufacturing PMIs for October

I previewed these yesterday in two posts, worth checking out if you're interested:
