France's Loiseau says there has been no discussion between Macron and May on extending Article 50
France's minister for European affairs, Nathalie Loiseau, comments
She's mainly referring to discussions that were had between May and Macron during the Christmas holiday. As for a summary of the current situation, that last comment sums it up pretty well. If not, you can also adopt ERG vice-chair Mark Francois' commentary:
- No one wants to trap UK inside backstop
- Regarding assurances, says that "there is nothing more we can do"
"Putting some love letter on top of it (the Withdrawal Agreement) has no legally binding effect at all"
