Merkel's conservatives are now the underdog
The latest FGW/ZDF poll shows that the SPD is leading with 25%, with the CDU trailing behind at 22%. That isn't much changed from the similar polling source on 2 September but it reaffirms the ongoing trend over the past month.
In case you missed it, Forsa's poll at the start of the week even showed support for the conservatives falling below 20% for the first time.
