RKI estimates the virus reproduction rate to be 0.84 as of yesterday

Germany

The latest update sees another 933 new cases reported, bringing the total confirmed cases to 172,239 in the country. Once again, daily recoveries still outpace this number with an estimated total of ~150,300 persons now reported to have recovered from the disease.

Meanwhile, another 89 deaths were reported so that brings the total number of deaths to 7,723 persons as of the latest update today.

I think it is clear now that the drop in figures a few days back is clearly due to the 'weekend effect', similar to what we have seen for a few weekends already now.

The daily case count is definitely much better than late March to early April, but it isn't really improving all too much since the turn of the month. It would seem the infection rate is settling somewhere just under 1.00 for now but this is a tricky time to navigate.

If more clusters start to emerge in the country, especially in larger cities, it would be a major setback to the government's plans to reopen the economy.

Let's see how things go over the next few weeks.
