Central bankers are back from their summer vacation~

ECB member and Bundesbank chief Jens Weidmann will be speaking later today at the annual meeting of the Central Bank Research Association in Frankfurt. Weidmann will be delivering a speech on "The relationship between monetary and macroprudential policies - black and white or shades of grey?".

Over the weekend, he also came out to comment that German household savings have been "melting away" due to ultra-low interest rates, rising inflation and sluggish stock markets. He said that real interest rate is in negative territory at the moment while also noting that the indirect effects of the situation in Turkey are "difficult to estimate".

"I'm telling you, finding your way around the Amazon jungle is less challenging than dealing with our monetary policies".
