Honda is all revved up - says sales tax hike risks failure for Abenomics, it should be delayed

Honda Etsuro is a past economic adviser to Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo.

Bloomberg carried the report overnight of an interview in which Honda said Abe should drop plans for the sales tax hike in October:
  • "Abenomics will fail for real if the tax is raised now," 
  • Said the rise should be put on hold until the Bank of Japan's 2% inflation target is reached.
Bloomberg note that Honda has convinced Abe to postpone the tax increase twice before
  • and said he is determined to do so again
