Wuhan has finally restored outbound traffic today but strict preventive measures are still being imposed in the city

The news of Wuhan reopening its borders was already communicated two weeks back but it has been made official today as healthy residents and visitors will finally be allowed to leave the city as road transportation, trains and flights have resumed.

But after 76 days of lockdown, this is still a far cry from a return to normal conditions in the city. Restricted movements between residential areas are still being imposed with all residents needing their temperatures checked when entering their homes.

Masks are still pretty much compulsory and social distancing rules also still apply, or should at least be adhered to. And there are also temperature and disinfectant checkpoints in most public spaces. This is just one example upon entering a building:

So far, most reports are suggesting that despite the "reopening", the situation on the ground remains very quiet. I would say that this is just one of the things that many around the world can expect moving forward as well.

The end of lockdown does not equate to a return to normal in social and economic activity. The changes in social behaviour are going to be massive and not likely for the better.
