Highlights of the June ISM manufacturing index

  • Prior was 54.9
  • Prices paid 55.0 vs 58.5
  • Prior prices paid 60.5
  • New orders 63.5 vs 59.5
  • Employment 57.2 vs 53.5

This is a snapshot of the bigger problem the Fed is facing. The surveys are good, orders are good, employment is good but inflation is softening. It doesn't make sense on the small scale but globalized competition is pushing prices lower.
