Comments by Italy's government undersecretary for the regions, Stefano Buffagni

  • Country must be prepared for a possible downgrade

As a reminder, Italy's credit rating is set to be reviewed this month with S&P Global Ratings to deliver their verdict next Friday and Moody's to do so some time towards the end of the month. The current ratings have Italy's credit sitting two notches above junk status and a downgrade will result in further pressure on Italian assets and the euro. This will be a key risk factor to look out for in the week ahead.
