May to be reliant on leave supporters

There is a local election on in the UK and while this does not alter the make up of the MP's in Parliament it is a litmus test as to how the main parties are doing.

The results are still coming in, and are mixed, but Theresa May's conservative councillors have done best in regions which voted 'leave' in the referendum. This will mean that May will have to come up with a Brexit deal that her 'leave' and conservative supporters are happy with. It skews the pitch to Brexit being harder, rather than softer.

On the other hand, May probably won't be given a lot of no confidence by the result which helps her maintain authority in her party without being ousted on the back of a weak local election result. Follow the results here on the BBC as they come.
