LONDON (MNI) – The official Land Registry data showed house
price rose on the month in July, after private sector surveys had
recorded a mix of rises and falls on the month.
The Land Registry survey showed house prices were up 0.4% on the
month and up 6.7% on the year. The monthly rise was the largest since
January.
Land Registry said the number of property transactions was up on
the year, with an average 48,219 sales per month in the February to May
period comapred with 36,947 in the same period a year ago, a 30.5% rise.
The July Halifax survey had reported a 0.6% rise in house prices on
the month, while Nationwide saw them post a 0.5% fall, and the house
asking price surveys from Hometrack and Rightmove also recorded falls on
the month.
