UK prime minister Theresa May with some comments
- Parliament will have a vote on implementing backstop
- Lawmakers will know of EU assurances on backstop before vote
Very much the same old story being reiterated here. It remains to be seen if she can deliver on those assurances and the bigger issue is will they be legally-binding. As it stands, I remain skeptical and so does majority of market participants I reckon.
GBP/USD trades at 1.2730 now after hitting highs of 1.2777 earlier. EUR/GBP is back up to near flat levels on the day at 0.8996 from a low of 0.8975 earlier.
