US DATA: NY Fed Empire State Mfg Index fell to -7.79 in June vs
11.88 in May, well below expectations for a rise to 14.0 in the month
and the first negative reading since November. The new orders index
plunged to -3.61 from 17.19, while the shipments index fell to -8.02
from 25.75. In addition, the employment index fell to 10.20 from 24.73,
while prices paid fell to 56.12 from 69.89. The 6-mo outlook index also
fell sharply to a reading of 22.45 from 52.69. Survey respondents said
that they expect to raise wages between 0-5% in the near future.
