–Senate Majority Leader: House GOP Is ‘Refighting Very Old Battles’
–Reid: House GOP Should Work On Jobs, Not Pass Symbolic Repeal

WASHINGTON (MNI) – Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid Monday blasted
House Republicans for staging a symbolic vote this week to repeal the
2010 healthcare law, declaring that the House should be more focused on
creating jobs than “refighting very old battles” on health care.

In remarks on the Senate floor, Reid said the House’s coming vote
to repeal the 2010 health care law will be its 31st vote to repeal all
or parts of the law.

Reid said the coming House vote is little more than a “political
show vote” that will be a waste to time.

The House will vote Wednesday to repeal President Obama’s health
care law.

The House is expected to vote to repeal the 2010 law on a party
line vote. The repeal bill is certain to die in the Senate.

Prior to the House vote Wednesday, several House panels will hold
hearings on the health law’s impact on job creation and economic growth.

The House Ways and Means Committee will hold a hearing Tuesday on
the legal issues surrounding the Supreme Court’s ruling that the
individual mandate constitutes a tax.

The House Oversight and Government Reform will hold a hearing
Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. on the health care law’s impact on job creation.

Reid said the Senate will work this week on “consensus tax cuts.”

He said the Senate will consider a jobs package that would give tax
breaks to firms to buy new equipment or hire new workers.
