There is speculation that the reported skirmishes on the border between Serbia and Kosovo is indicative of Russia seeking to consider other fronts in its invasion efforts. Serbia is a past ally of Russia.
AFAIK (which is, admittedly, not much) this is something to do with the Kosovo government having announced that it decided to postpone the reciprocity decisions on license plates and Serbian issued IDs for one month, until 1 September, 2022. This game after Kosovo Serbs blocked the roads to Jarinje and Bernjak border crossings.
Anyway, via NATO, not taking chances.:
