Natural gas April seasonals

Natural gas is normally something to stay away from. It's a commodity market on steroids.

In the last three months alone it rallied 40% only to give it all back in a 30% decline. Daily moves routinely exceed 3%, including today.

So even though it's risen in 8 consecutive Aprils, caution is warranted. April is the second-best month of the year for natural gas, averaging a 4.77% climb. It would be #1 if not for an insane 62.6% rally in September 2009.

What makes natural gas a bit more compelling is the chart. It's at $2.70 and has found support in the $2.50-$2.60 range many times in the past two years. That leaves about a 5% with much more headroom above.
