Reuters interview with Fed's Bullard

Bullard in an interview with Reuters is saying:

  • he is open to a rate cut if inflation still low after summer
  • Fed made a huge move in January by taking future rate cuts off the table
  • Fed's January policy change has helped bring down treasury yields, should boost inflation
  • Rate cut during boom times would show Fed is serious on inflation target
  • Low inflation and inflation expectations are concerning
  • Fed policy is a little tight. Fed should be careful

Bullard is a dove. He is a voting member in 2019
