Francois Villeroy de Galhau will take over as Bank of France head
Christian Noyer's retirement earlier this year left a vacancy as the head of the Bank of France and as an influential voting member of the ECB.
It looks as though he will be replaced by Francois Villeroy after France's lower house passed an approval vote.
He brings some controversy with him. He was CEO of BNP Paribas from 2011-2015 after 12 years at the bank. He's dissolved all financial interest in the company and said he won't take part in any decision on BNP for two years.
"This question of independence is legitimate and I take it seriously," Villeroy said at a hearing Tuesday. "First of all, I want to guarantee that there will never be a situation of conflict of interest."
On Draghi, he said the ECB President is implementing the right monetary policy.
