Responses (in brief) from around the place

Westpac (Bill Evans) :

  • If anything the language used in the minutes has strengthened that easing bias by using the term: "Members did not see this as limiting the Board's scope for any action that might be appropriate at future meetings".

ANZ:

  • Minutes provided little new information on the economy
  • Did lay out an "explicit easing bias"
  • Easing bias is based on ongoing forecast for below-trend growth and rising unemployment

Citi:

  • RBA has a soft easing bias
  • Citi's current forecast is for a cut in August ... but this is at risk now due to the better confidence following the budget and the potential businesses to boost investment expenditure.
