We had the official manufacturing PMI come in improved for August (reported on the weekend), then the HSBC manufacturing PMI slipped itself into expansion, nosing to 50.1 (reported on Monday).

  • The July result was 54.1

The non-manufacturing PMI (also referred to as ‘services’ PMI) does not get the attention that the manufacturing PMI gets, and is not as big a market focus.
