Data was delayed due to a temporary strike at ISTAT

Says MNI

Another worrying data signal from Italy as July retail sales dip -0.1% after a flat June reading. The July decline is the first since March but the trend, taken from the three-month average, looks decidedly weaker (-0.5% in the May/July period versus -0.2% in the April/June period) and suggests further difficultly facing Prime Minister Matteo Renzi’s domestic-demand focused reform plan.
