Donald Trump comments on the Federal Reserve Monday
Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump was asked about the Federal Reserve today and instead of taking some populist cheap shots, he made a few solid points.
- The Fed is 'keeping the rates down so everything else doesn't go down,' he said
- The US has a 'false economy'
- 'At some point' US interest rates 'are going to have to change'
A weekend poll from Reuters showed Trump ahead of Clinton nationally. He has toned down some of the unpresidential rhetoric and attempting to sound more level-headed.
That was a plan for a path to the White House I laid out back in March. He blew it around the time of the Orlando shooting but if he can right the ship and maintain it, he has a shot.
The first debate is Oct 3.
If he wins, it's good to know that at least he isn't intending to force rates higher in some kind of crazy experiment.
