Counting down to Friday 12 April 2019, which is the Brexit date as of now.

The EU leaders meet at a summit on Wednesday, at which they'll (amongst other things) consider a request to extend the date (until June 30).

Weekend comments from May on 'compromise', but warned:

  • Said the choice bolied down to 'eaving the EU with a deal "or not leaving at all"
  • "The longer this takes, the greater the risk of the UK never leaving at all,"

Also from May:

  • "My intention is to reach an agreement with my fellow EU leaders that will mean if we can agree a deal here at home we can leave the EU in just six weeks,"

May continues talks with Labour leader Corbyn. Rebecca Long-Bailey (part of the Labour delegation) said talks had been "quite a positive and hopeful", but little was achieved:

"The sad thing is at the moment we haven't seen, overall, any real changes to the deal, but we're hopeful that will change in coming days and we are willing to continue the talks"

Leader of the lower house of parliament Andrea Leadsom:

  • "The vision we had of Brexit is fading away - and we are running out of time to save it,"
